Who wants to visit Las Vegas at the end of July when it’s
106? Well, come along with us and don’t forget to pack your flannel shirt!

| Las Vegas Baby! |
Although you don’t need an excuse to hit the road, we did have a reason…Jan and sister Chris share the same July birthday.
 |
| In the suburbs, west of town |
We stayed at the (new to us)
Red Rock Resort, which is in Summerlin
close to Chris and family. A delightful
stay.

It was great to be together again for birthday fun since it
had been about 15 years since the last time. And the Vegas family showed us a
good time.

 |
| Hey Donald, what a great place to build a golf course |
The scenery is so
beautiful and it was not so crowded. We made a stop and watched someone take a
number of selfies – of himself and a rock!
 |
| No selfie stick? |
Jan did her Gabby Hayes impression (carn sarn it, dag nabbit) and we took a short hike out
to view the petroglyphs.
 |
| Hitting the trail. We couldn't find the petroglyphs, so we Googled them from the room. |
That evening, Chris and Jan went to the Mirage to see
“The Beatles Love”
as a gift to ourselves, what a wonderful show. And we were full of it (Love, that is) when we came
out!

The next night, it was over to Luxor and really enjoyed the
Blue Man Group, so creative and hilarious. Driving drums, laser lights, and tons of toilet paper.
 |
| Blue, not sad |

| A fun way to watch TV in Vegas |
We were impressed with the size of the deep tub and getting
in was a ballet, with grace and cat-like reflexes. Getting out, not so much. Briefly discussed the possibility of calling 9-1-1.

We couldn’t miss out on our Timbers playing back in Portland, so we found
a pub to watch the match on TV – it was very British, so we had to order fish ‘n chips. Then, it was
time to stomp all over the Galaxy and get the win with a 4-0 score!

Tom likes to put down a bet on the Timbers when we are in
Nevada, and this trip was no exception.
The Timbers were heavily favored to win, but the odds on a tie were
quite favorable. So made a $40 bet to win
and a $20 bet to tie. A tie would have meant about a $30 profit on both bets,
but the Timbers needed the three points a lot more than we needed the thirty
bucks, so we weren't at all disappointed. Net winnings on both bets, a
whopping $1.05.
The next morning, we were ready to go home and enjoyed our flight – Good-bye
Vegas. Hello Oak Grove
