Travels with T & J: Washington Weekend

We have been to Seattle more than a few times: Space Needle, Pike St. Market, and the wonderful attractions on the waterfront…but a trip we took to stay with friends Boyd and Mojgan in the Tacoma and Puget Sound area was just so much fun. And, we saw some truly delightful things that we wouldn’t have otherwise.

Steilacoom, Washington. Can you say picturesque?

First stop for us was at Steilacoom, a delightful, historic area on the water. So beautiful on a summer day. We have always wanted to visit here because Jan's ancestors were among the original settlers in this area, building the first grist mill in Washington here on Chamber's Creek. Next, off to the Holm’s place in Tacoma.

We enjoyed their hospitality and spent some time on the deck at their beautiful home watching the Perseid Meteor Shower – what a thrill!

Next morning we were off to tour downtown Tacoma and the many changes and improvements to see there.

Then, across Tacoma Narrows to Poulsbo, a Norwegian village on the sound, to walk a bit, check out a bakery and a few shops while Tom and Boyd were watching the foot traffic.
