Goin' Rogue

Keeping the summertime fun machine going, we went south to Grants Pass.  Sarah and Elizabeth joined us and we had a blast.

We took an afternoon trip on the Rogue River with Hellgate Excursions. Our guide, Donnie, was great.  Lots of 360 degree spins. The river gorge and Hellgate Canyon were beautiful to see.

You say you want wild life? We saw a bald eagle, egrets, cranes, and turtles. But we'll always think of the Merganser duck that flew along with our boat for about two miles, dive bombing, swooping back and forth in front of the bow at about 50 mph. Thank you Mother Nature!

We stayed over night at a nice place next to the boat ramp - The Lodge at Riverside. Wine and cheese at 4 pm, cookies and milk at 7.

Just before sunset, we walked across the bridge to Riverside Park to check for any Pokeman-Go sightings.

Just another day in paradise

Next day, up to Crater Lake. It was breezy up there, and one of the most beautiful places we've been. A visit to the gift shop, of course, then over to Crater Lake Lodge. Sarah was ready to stay for a week.

Elizabeth was interested in a snowball fight, but cooler heads prevailed.  A lovely drive down the mountain to Roseburg and then I-5 all the way home.
