We were almost sorry to check out of our room in Sheridan. The Comfort Inn and Suites was so nice and comfortable and roomy. And we're not just saying that because the night before was in a Motel 6 (never again.)

Again onto empty highways at 80 miles an hour, but beautiful weather today - we were at the
Devil's Tower before noon. What a sight it was. This is our third national park in two days. We love our senior citizens pass.

On our way back to civilization, we drove through Sundance (S.D.) A sleepy little town. In the late 1800's Harry Longabaugh spent some time in the jail there. After that, he called himself the Sundance Kid. And the rest, as they say, is Robert Redford.

We went into Sturgis to take a look around. Kinda quiet today, but all the T-shirt shops were open. The most biker bars per square mile in the civilized world.

We're going to stay a few days in Rapid City, maybe going up to Mt. Rushmore tonight. Stay tuned...
Day three update. We did decide to go up to Mt Rushmore tonight. Sunny and 85 when we left the hotel. We saw some dark clouds in the distance, but Tom said there was nothing to worry about. By the time we got up to the monument it's 50 degrees, 50 mile an hour winds and pouring down rain. We ran to the gift shop hoping it would blow over. It didn't. Tom, being a weather expert, is wearing shorts and flip flops. We finally brave the trip back to the car only to take the wrong road out of the parking lot because we can't read the damn signs. So we take a 25 mile detour around the back side of the mountain on the world's darkest road. As for the GPS, kiss my ass. Supposed to be sunny and 85 tomorrow. Think we'll go to Mt. Rushmore. One thing for sure, we will be back to the hotel before dark.
