Left Missoula on an empty freeway, going 80 miles an hour all day. This is our kind of driving, and, as Tom said, we enjoy seeing virgin territory. We love exploring together. Bad weather chased us all day, but we stayed just ahead of it. Enjoyed watching all the lightning strikes on the "Storm" app on Jan's phone, since they never caught up to us.
We drove through Livingston and past the Crazy Mountains. Two locations that are central to one of our favorite movies; Rancho Deluxe. The Dude as a kid!

Around noon we got to
Pompey's Pillar , something we've been planning for almost a year. William Clark - of Lewis & Clark fame - climbed to the top of to this beautiful place on the Yellowstone river while on his way back to the United States. What a thrill for us (after a climb up a lot of stairs) to see the place where he carved his name in the sandstone. Just so happens it was on Jan's birthday, two hundred ten years ago. It's a small world when you think about it. This carving is the only physical evidence of the Lewis & Clark Expedition that still exists, so it is a pretty special place.

On to the
Little Big Horn Battlefield. The scenery was fantastic, the history was sobering. Until we saw all the prairie dogs taking the sun. Life is good.
